Our history

CAMPWERK was founded in 2010 in the heart of the Ruhr area, in Mülheim an der Ruhr. But the history of CAMPWERK began much earlier: with an idea in the mind of company founder Michael Krämer. Instead of being satisfied with what the market offered in terms of outdoor-suitable camping equipment, he made a plan to develop his own products. And so, the first original CAMPWERK tent trailer took shape. Suitable for him and especially for his beloved Newfoundland dog “Maja”. And thus, CAMPWERK was born.

Since then, the company has moved twice. First in May 2018 from Mülheim an der Ruhr to Bochum, later it moved on to the Bergisches Land. Bochum, the city in the deepest Ruhr area, was a beloved home for CAMPWERK for many years. But eventually, the halls and offices at the Bochum location threatened to burst at the seams, so Managing Director Michael Krämer set out once again to find a new location. In 2023, CAMPWERK finally moved to its current headquarters in Velbert.

What still defines CAMPWERK despite all the changes: We are here for you! With elaborate showrooms where all products can be touched and tested, real people on the phone, on-site consultation, and a repair service that keeps even well-traveled favorite tents in good condition.
