What is an alcove?
The term “alcove” refers to a bed recess that is located above the driver’s cabin in a motorhome.
The alcove is therefore located above the roof of the driver’s cabin of the caravan and serves as a sleeping area for one or two people.
This makes optimum use of the available living space.
Advantages of an alcove
One advantage of the alcove is that the available living space is optimally utilized.
Many alcove motorhomes also offer good winter suitability.
Disadvantages of an alcove
The disadvantages of a motorhome with an alcove are the low ceiling height in the sleeping alcove and the high height of the vehicle itself.
Another disadvantage of alcove motorhomes is the higher air resistance of the vehicle, which results in higher fuel consumption.
