Board games while camping – Board games encourage patience, motor skills and strategic thinking.
They are also a great way to spend a few enjoyable and sociable hours with the family.
Whether in the awning in the rain or in the roof tent in the evening, board games always work.
Here are 6 tips with game instructions to make your game night at the campsite more entertaining.
Camping Ratgeber:
Don’t get angry
We start with an absolute board game classic.
Players move their pieces across the board by rolling the dice.
While the dice are rolled to see who reaches the finish line first, players try to beat the other players.
This happens when a player places their piece on the same square as another player.
This piece then has to go back to the beginning and start again.
The winner is the first to get all their pieces to the finish line (color-coded spaces).
Mensch ärgere dich nicht at a glance:
- Roll the dice to get your own pieces to the finish line
- Beat other players (pieces on the same field)
- Defeated characters: restart from the beginning
- Winner: all game pieces at the finish line (colored playing fields)
Many people already know the rules.
But if you want to brush up on them, you can find them explained in this video.

Monopoly
In this game, the individual players build a street of real estate and try to take the other players’ money.
The other players’ streets or the event / community cards present obstacles.
These can quickly ruin an aspiring real estate monopoly.
Either the financial dream of play money awaits you or a prison sentence in the game’s own prison.
The winner is the player who doesn’t end up bankrupt.
That’s what Monopoly is all about:
- Build a street of real estate & earn money
- Obstacles: Event & community cards
- Winner: Player who does not go bankrupt

Mill
Make sure you don’t get into a dilemma!
In this board game, two players must take it in turns to place three pieces in a row on a board.
Then the player who has three pieces in a row can take one of the other player’s pieces from the board.
First, each player places nine pieces of one color on the board, then these are moved from corner to corner in alternating moves.
If a player only has two pieces left on the board, they have lost.
The other player wins.
This is how you play mill:
- Board game for two people (couples’ evening?)
- Goal: line up three stones in a row
- Then: Remove the opponent’s checker from the board
- Loser: only 2 pieces left on the board

Game of life
This game is about making decisions.
The whole thing is based on playing through the life of a person.
You can move your character around the game board using a wheel of fortune.
The cards indicate actions with which you can either increase or decrease your fortune.
Whoever has the greatest fortune at the end of the game – at “retirement” – is the winner.
Once again at a glance:
- Goal: Make decisions about life & reach retirement age
- Move the figure not with the dice, but with the wheel of fortune
- Expand & reduce cards with actions and assets
- Winner: has the highest assets at the end (“retirement”)

City, country, river
Many people also know Stadt, Land, Fluss.
All you really need is a piece of paper and a pen, but templates are available to buy or download from the internet.
The alphabet is counted down quietly at the beginning and the letter that is on “Stop” becomes the letter you play for this round.
Matching words in the categories city, country, river, name, animal and profession must always be assigned to this letter.
It’s especially nice if you can enter the camping site directly.
Of course, the categories are also customizable and can be tailored to your personal interests.
This is how City, Country, River is played:
- Count down the alphabet silently
- Say the letter for “Stop” out loud
- Matching words in 6 categories
- Categories: adapt to interests
The crazy labyrinth
The aim of this board game is to find as many secrets and artifacts as possible in the mysterious labyrinth.
The players move a game piece along the painted corridors on the board.
But beware: as new cards are constantly being pushed onto the board, the paths in the labyrinth can change significantly.
Will you still manage to collect everything or will you get stuck in a dead end?
This is what awaits you in the board game “The Crazy Labyrinth”:
- Goal: Find artifacts & secrets
- Move character through corridors
- Corridors change due to cards
