Atlantis in Lake Edersee – It may be hard to believe, but a total of three villages have disappeared under Lake Edersee, which can be hiked to the surface again when the water level is low.
How this all came about is very simple.
Over 100 years ago, the Eder dam was built for shipping and the villages of Asel, Berich and Bringhausen had to be relocated upstream.
This is why they disappeared into the lake after construction and are now regarded as the Atlantis of Lake Eder.
There are two ways to visit them.
