Over hill and dale: hiking Lake Kaltern with a dog

Kalterer Höhenweg: 3 hours with panorama
This hiking trail runs from the Kalterer Höhe to Altenburg, where an impressive mountain panorama awaits you.
The trail takes just over three hours.
A good way to work off some energy with your dog.
You and your four-legged friend will find yourself on adventurous hiking trails with viewing platforms that offer you a view of the lake in between.
For better orientation, follow the signs from Kalterer Höhe towards Altenburg and with the number 9. The difficulty is medium.

Altenburger Wald: Viewpoints over the lake
Once you arrive in Altenburg, the first thing to do is to visit the Altenburg viewpoint, also known as the “Klotzbank”.
From here you can see various peaks, high plateaus and Lake Kaltern.
Around the village of Altenburg and the viewpoint you will find the Altenburg Forest.
Here your dog can let off steam and you can discover new hiking trails, such as the Peace Trail (no. 11) and the path to the Rastenbach Gorge (no. 2).
