What is a CEE?
Do I need an adapter?
Which CEE plugs are available?
You will need a power socket at the latest to charge your cell phone, make coffee or keep the fridge cool.
Electricity on the campsite?
Sounds like a complicated matter, but it’s not!
If you’re traveling with a motorhome, you might be lucky and already have an integrated CEE socket.
If you are camping with a roof tent, you can use an adapter.
You can easily connect an adapter cable to the power column at the campsite!
Camping socket: supplying your motorhome with power
Once you arrive at the campsite, you usually need electricity straight away to charge your cell phone or connect cooling devices.
Motorhomes usually already have a blue CEE socket.
Using a cable reel, you can connect the power cable between the power pole and the CEE socket so that everything is easily supplied with 220 or 230V.
You have these advantages with a CEE power connection:
- Power for all electronic devices
- Standardized plugs on most campsites
- Power supply from 200 – 250 volts
- Fuse protection of 16 amps
Power also for the roof tent with CEE adapter
Are you planning a camping vacation with a roof tent or folding caravan?
Even with these options, you don’t have to go completely without electricity.
If there is no integrated power socket, there are usually power columns available on the campsite, which have become standardized for camping and can therefore be found almost everywhere.
You can easily purchase a CEE adapter or a CEE adapter cable in advance, which you can then connect to the CEE socket at the campsite.
Ideally, you should get an extension cable at the start of your trip so that you can also use electronic devices with 230V and 16A in the awning, for example.

Why is the CEE plug and adapter actually blue?
The plugs and power connections on campsites have been standardized throughout Europe and are immediately recognizable by their blue color.
Experienced campers know immediately that the socket has a voltage of 200 – 250 volts and is fused with 16 amps.
This means that electronic devices, cool boxes etc. can be easily connected directly and any adapter cable purchased in advance can be used at any campsite.
- Europe-wide standardization
- The blue color immediately catches the eye
- Campers know about volts and amps
