Still looking for the right inner tent?
In principle, you can convert any tent into an inner tent.
The most important thing is that it is smaller than your outer tent.
Each model has its advantages and disadvantages, but there are different models depending on the weather conditions, number of people and budget.
However, they all ensure that you have protection from pesky insects, condensation and dirt.
Pop Up: quick & easy to set up
Pop-up tents are a good alternative to time-consuming tent construction.
As the name suggests, you don’t need a nerve-wracking installation with dozens of small individual parts.
The pop-up tent only requires anchoring to the ground and tensioning, which is completed within a few minutes.
So if you want to do without endless untangling, crumpled tarpaulins and confusing instructions, this is the model for you.
Advantages of a pop up tent:
- Easy to assemble
- The tent constructions are self-supporting
- Tents have a (very) low weight
- Ideal for tent and camping beginners
Disadvantages of a pop up tent:
- Relatively time-consuming dismantling
- Little space in the tent (often only one sleeping cabin)
- Susceptible to wind

Why do you need an inner tent?
The inner tent is not absolutely necessary for a short camping trip, but it has many advantages and offers you incredible comfort.
It protects you from condensation, insects and, as a fire tent, it even protects your outer tent from flying sparks.
Are you a frostbite?
Then the inner tent is perfect for you, as it releases heat into the environment more slowly and creates a cozier atmosphere with its colorful interior.
However, it has some disadvantages, especially in terms of space, as it increases the pack weight and pack size.
It also reduces the usable space of the outer tent.
The costs also play a role again, you can get hold of a relatively cheap one from 35 euros, but you have to take this into account in the overall expenditure.
Advantages of an inner tent
- Comfort
- Protection against condensation
- Protection against insects and damage
- Slows down the release of heat into the environment
- Creates a cozy atmosphere
Disadvantages of an inner tent
- Reduces the interior space of the outer tent
- Increases pack size and pack weight
- needs more time to dry (additional tent)
- must be purchased additionally (additional costs)
Care: wash, clean & mend
It is generally useful to get a so-called floor protector, a tent floor carpet pad.
This makes work much easier in terms of dirt and abrasion of the floor.
The inner tent can be cleaned easily by removing it from the pegs, turning it over and shaking out the dust and protection.
Stubborn stains can be removed with water, not with conventional cleaning agents or detergents.
Please note that you should never throw such a tent in the washing machine and should always dry it out completely.
This avoids mildew stains and mold.
You should also use suitable cleaning products, leave them to work for a few minutes and wipe them off with a damp cloth.
The best thing to do after such a wash is to waterproof it again.
If your tent is literally bursting at the seams, there are various products for sealing silicone seams.
These are applied to all seams from the inside as soon as the tent is kept taut and clean.
After 12 hours, this should be completely dry and the problem should be solved.
