Rooftop tent festival: “the rooftop tent is here to stay”

“It is not a temporary Corona impulse, but the popularity of the rooftop tent is permanent.”
So says Ivar van der Leij, organizer of the Daktentfestival Nederland.
In recent years, more and more people are discovering the mobile and flexible way of camping on the roof of your own car.
And the growth does not seem to be over yet.
Once again, the festival sold out faster than previous editions.
The third edition of the Daktentfestival Nederland will take place in Schipborg (Dr.) from September 16 – 18.
On Saturday afternoon September 17 is the free visitors afternoon for people who want to know more about this way of camping.

Roof tent remains

Organizer Ivar van der Leij is delighted with the sold-out festival.
“You see in recent years that the rooftop tent is really being discovered by the camper. That trend started way before Corona. And that growth continues. People want to travel around more, but don’t always have the budget for a camper. A rooftop tent is then a favorable alternative and it gives people the ultimate feeling of freedom. Meanwhile, I dare say that the rooftop tent is a permanent and serious means of camping, which ranks between tent, trailer tent, caravan and camper. ” “The festival is designed to introduce campers to experienced users of a rooftop tent of various makes and models. Because who better to tell you about the pros and cons of camping with a rooftop tent than the user himself?” said Ivar.

All about rooftop tent camping during visitor afternoon

The festival may be sold out for participants, but visitors are welcome on Saturday, Sept. 17, between 2 and 5 p.m. to learn all about rooftop tent camping.
However, they must register through the website www.daktentfestival.nl before gaining access to the campsite.
There will be demonstrations on how to unfold a rooftop tent and what technical requirements your car must meet to set up a rooftop tent.
Furthermore, there are several topics on which you can ask questions, such as how to go roof tent camping with your children, how to make a right choice which model is suitable for you and what to do when e.g. you want to go winter camping in a roof tent.
