How do I insure my roof tent?
Even if the probability of roof tents being stolen is very low, it can still happen in rare cases.
It therefore makes sense to insure it if necessary.
Even if an accident should happen, a roof tent is usually not automatically insured.
However, as it can cost quite a lot overall, insurance is also recommended in this case so that you don’t end up paying the costs.
But what insurance do I need for my roof tent?
Rooftop tent insurance & theft protection
Generally speaking, it is not that easy to insure a roof tent.
According to road traffic regulations, roof tents fall under “cargo” on the roof.
However, some insurance companies see the roof tent as additional equipment of the vehicle, which is why you should first check which category the roof tent falls under so that you can insure it accordingly.
In addition, an anti-theft device is definitely recommended, which you can simply attach to the bottom of your roof tent if you are going on a longer day trip on foot, for example.
This means it cannot simply be removed from the roof and you don’t have to worry unnecessarily.
