Jeep Offroad: Camping with Jeep
Jeep off-road vehicles have been taking you almost everywhere since 1941. Into the jungle, the desert or on country roads. Almost all Jeep models are suitable for off-road excursions and impress with their off-road qualities in terms of both design and equipment. It is not without reason that the off-road vehicle brand advertises with the slogan “Only a Jeep from Jeep is a real Jeep.” The most popular off-road models are, for example, the Jeep Wrangler, the original Jeep, and the Jeep Cherokee or Grand Cherokee as a larger luxury version.
Jeep Wrangler: off-road legend as Sport, Sahara & Rubicon
The Jeep Wrangler is the original Jeep par excellence.
With its angular bodywork and rustic image, the model appeals to adventure lovers in every respect.
No other car brings so much history and tradition to the roads.
With its 4.22 m length, the Wrangler is certainly not a handy off-road vehicle, but it impresses with very good off-road characteristics, all-wheel drive, 5-speed automatic transmission and a high trailer load.
With modern assistance systems such as cruise control and hill start and hill descent control, Jeep makes the driving experience easier for its drivers and turns every off-road adventure into a very special one.
- Power: 146 kW / 199 hp
- 0 – 100 km/h: 10.6 s
- Top speed:172 km/h
- Fuel consumption (combined)*: 11.9 l/100km
Over time, the model became more comfortable and therefore more suitable for everyday use.
Watch the video to find out why the Wrangler is still one of the most popular off-road vehicles today.
Jeep Grand Cherokee: Luxury off-roader with comfort
The Jeep Grand Cherokee, first established on the market in 1933, is the extension of the sturdy Jeep Cherokee and is considered the largest and most expensive model in the Jeep range.
At just under 5 m in length, the car is rather unwieldy for road use.
It also has high fuel consumption due to its high power output of 286 hp.
The Grand Cherokee scores points with its excellent standard equipment, which includes seven airbags, cruise control and four-wheel drive.
An almost perfect car for off-road driving.
Thanks to the spacious interior and large trunk, nothing stands in the way of a camping adventure.
- 0 – 100 km/h: 9.1 s
- Top speed: 206 km/h
- Fuel consumption (combined)*: 11.4 l/100km
Even though the Grand Cherokee is a luxury SUV, it impresses with its off-road characteristics and good equipment.
Plenty of space, a high level of safety, modern design and great equipment make the Grand Cherokee a popular luxury SUV with plenty of comfort.

Best-selling models: Cherokee, Compass, Renegate
The best-selling Jeep models include the Jeep Cherokee, Compass and Renegate.
What all three have in common is that they are convincing both as everyday vehicles and off-road.
As off-roaders, they score highly in their classes and are popular vehicles on both the American and European markets.
Jeep Cherokee: mid-range off-roader
As a classic among American SUVs, the Jeep Cherokee offers a range of attractive equipment and features that are even impressive off-road.
The 4.62 m long model weighs almost 1.8 tons and offers a large interior and trunk with enough storage space for an adventure.
As the most popular Jeep model, the Cherokee also shines with off-road characteristics.
It can climb slopes of up to 60 percent and negotiate inclines of up to 45 percent.
Despite this, its robust appearance and aerodynamic body offer a certain level of comfort.
The off-roader with high seat is therefore a perfect model for a camping trip with a roof tent.
- Power: 200 kW / 272 hp
- 0 – 100 km/h: 7.3 s
- Top speed: 206 km/h
- Fuel consumption (combined)*: 9.3 l/100km

Jeep Compass: off-road vehicle in the compact class
In Europe, the Jeep Compass is the most important model for the off-road vehicle brand.
As an alternative to cars such as the VW Tiguan, Kia Sportage or Mazda CX-5, it is particularly convincing in the compact class.
The Cherokee’s little brother boasts a fresh design, modern infotainment equipment and unrivaled off-road capability.
The spaciousness, handling and assistance systems are of a higher average standard.
- Power: 96 kW / 130 hp
- 0 – 100 km/h: 10.3 s
- Top speed: 192 km/h
- Fuel consumption (combined)*: 6.1 l/100km
Here you can see once again the features of the Jeep Compass and why this model is also suitable for a camping trip with a trailer or roof tent.

Jeep Renegade: Urban crossover
The smallest model of the American off-road vehicle brand is based on the design of the Jeep Wrangler, but cannot keep up with its off-road characteristics.
Although the robust off-roader is reminiscent of a military Jeep in terms of appearance, it cannot withstand heavy off-road terrain.
The urban crossover is available with front-wheel or all-wheel drive in the most powerful version and, like the Compass, offers a good amount of space.
With its driving characteristics, the SUV is a road vehicle that can occasionally drive off-road and is therefore well suited for camping.
- Power: 88 kW / 120 hp
- 0 – 100 km/h: 11.2 s
- Top speed: 185 km/h
- Fuel consumption (combined)*: 6.1 l/100km
The Jeep Renegate is just right for those who need an everyday vehicle that is suitable for an off-road excursion.
Its nostalgic off-road design and comfort make for a comfortable camping adventure.
