And now directly to the Land Rover off-road models, for real camping adventures.
Land Rover Offroad: Camping with Land Rover Defender & Discovery
In April 1948, the first Land Rover is presented at the Amsterdam Motor Show.
Since then, no other brand has stood for off-road action as clearly as Land Rover.
The brand’s image is particularly defined by longevity.
More than half of all “pre-production” Land Rovers still exist today as used cars.
However, Land Rover’s unique selling point is still its off-road character, which has been complemented by a modern design.
Popular Land Rover off-road models include the Land Rover Defender, the Land Rover Discovery and the Range Rover.
Land Rover Defender: off-road vehicle with character & individuality
The Land Rover Defender is the forefather of entire generations of off-road vehicles.
Perhaps because of this, or perhaps precisely because of this, the off-road vehicle with its rustic equipment and little comfort is a car for true off-road purists who love the experience of driving on complicated terrain.
However, the purist equipment also means a low level of safety despite the four-wheel drive.
With over two million cars sold, the British off-roader is one of the classics in automotive history.
- Power: 90 kW / 122 hp
- 0 – 100 km/h: – s
- Top speed 132 km/h
- Fuel consumption (combined)*: 11 l/100km
The Land Rover Defender has been on sale since 1948 and in its latest form from 2020 is similar to the original model in some but not many respects.
Particularly in terms of design and technical equipment, the model has been improved and thus enables a more comfortable camping adventure without losing the off-road vehicle atmosphere.
Here you can get an impression of the 2020 Land Rover.

Land Rover Discovery: Comfortable off-roader
The Land Rover Discovery combines the spaciousness of the Range Rover and the off-road capability of the Defender and is therefore suitable for a camping adventure with a roof tent.
The spacious off-roader offers up to seven seats and yet a high-quality and functional interior.
The huge load space and spacious passenger compartment are the result of a large body wrapped in a timeless, elegant and unagitated design.
- Power: 250 kW / 340 hp
- 0 – 100 km/h: 8.1 s
- Top speed: 195 km/h
- Fuel consumption (combined)*: 11.5 l/100km
Convince yourself of the outstanding off-road characteristics and comfort that the Discovery has to offer in its latest version.

Best-selling models: Range Rover, Evoque & Discovery Sport
The best-selling Land Rover models include, for example, the Range Rover Evoque with its convincing all-rounder qualities and the successor to the Freelander SUV, the Land Rover Discovery Sport, which combines both comfort and off-road functions.
However, the list of the most popular models is headed by the classic Range Rover as a luxury off-roader.
Range Rover: Luxury off-road vehicle
As a luxury class car from Jaguar Land Rover, the Range Rover has become one of the most popular cars in the Rover range.
The automotive icon was the first luxury off-road vehicle that was ready for the terrain.
With its features, it is superior to its competitors such as BMW or Mercedes.
- Power: 291 kW / 396 hp
- 0 – 100 km/h: 7.7 s
- Top speed: 225 km/h
- Fuel consumption (combined)*: 16 l/100km
Nobody does luxury, comfort and off-road capability as well as the Range Rover.
What’s more, the new Range Rover is made from a single piece of cast aluminum, as has previously only been the case with luxury saloons, and is therefore a full 400 kg lighter than its predecessor.

Range Rover Evoque: Convincing all-rounder
Since its market launch in 2011, 450,000 Range Rover Evoque models have been sold in the first four years.
This makes the model the most successful car launched by the brand.
The striking aesthetics and technical qualities speak for themselves, as the Evoque offers the most equipment variations compared to the Coupé or Convertible at a lower entry-level price.
As a 4.37 m long compact SUV, it is nevertheless one of the high-priced premium models.
The smallest model in the Range range impresses with its sporty, dynamic appearance and is therefore a perfect combination of driving pleasure and comfort.
- Power: 177 kW / 240 hp
- 0 – 100 km/h: 7.6 s
- Top speed: 217 km/h
- Fuel consumption (combined)*: 8.8 l/100km
Here you can see the Range Rover Evoque in its natural habitat: on the road and off-road.

Land Rover Discovery Sport: successor to the Freelander with off-road qualities
Since 2015, the Land Rover Discovery Sport has been closing the gap to the larger, more expensive Land Rover models.
As the successor to the mid-range SUV Freelander, the model now impresses with its modified dimensions and a choice of front or all-wheel drive.
With a length of 4.6 m, a width of 1.9 m and a height of 1.72 m, the Discovery Sport offers plenty of space for its occupants and a variable interior.
It also impresses with a towing capacity of no less than 2500 kilograms.
The off-road qualities are enhanced by a soft and comfortably tuned chassis and make the Land Rover Discovery Sport a popular car for long journeys.
- Power: 147 kW / 200 hp
- 0 – 100 km/h: 8.9 s
- Top speed: 207 km/h
- Fuel consumption (combined)*: 7.8 l/100km
Here you can convince yourself once again of the travel qualities of the Discovery Sport and the changes to its predecessor, the Freelander.
