Rooftop tent pitches: Close to nature, legal & affordable – an alternative to camping

Rooftop tent pitches – When camping with a rooftop tent or tent trailer, it is nice to have a little more privacy and peace and quiet from time to time, especially on longer trips lasting several weeks.
It is therefore a good idea not only to take breaks at campsites, but also to look for a more secluded pitch from time to time.
However, it is important that this is legal, as wild camping is generally prohibited in Germany.

Pitches for rooftop tents: privacy when camping

Whether you are traveling with just your boyfriend or girlfriend in a rooftop tent for 2 people, or on a family vacation with kids in a rooftop tent for 4-5 people, one of the highlights is definitely sitting together in front of the rooftop tent in the evening.
Chatting together, making stick bread over the campfire and gazing up at the brightly lit starry sky – these are the things that make camping so special.
However, many campsites are often very overcrowded or even fully booked, especially in high season.
If you still want to enjoy the feeling of complete closeness to nature and freedom in peace, you can simply bypass the overcrowded campsites, but still camp close to nature and legally.
For example, on specially designed pitches that you have to book in advance.

Pitch alternative: Trekking pitches on hiking trails

As an alternative to pitches, there are other ways to camp in the countryside without having to go to a campsite.
For example, there are so-called trekking sites.
These are usually very remote from hiking trails, so you can only reach them on foot.
If you are traveling with a roof tent, a trekking site is a good option if you are planning a longer day trip and need a spontaneous place to sleep after a long hike.
There are often a few individual sleeping spaces available here so that you are not completely alone in the Regal.
