And now directly to the Suzuki off-road models, for real camping adventures.
Suzuki Offroad: Camping with Suzuki Jimny, Samurai or the SJ models
The Japanese car manufacturer not only stands for economical small cars for city traffic, but also for more affordable off-road vehicles, which can be an alternative to the Mercedes G-Class, the Land Rover or even a Mitsubishi pickup – because all of these models can also carry a roof tent.
Suzuki has a small number of presentable off-road models in its range.
First and foremost is the Suzuki Jimny, which has virtually become an outdoor legend.
The Suzuki SJ models and the Suzuki Samurai are also experts off-road, but are currently no longer produced by the factory.
Here you can find out what Suzuki’s off-road models are capable of and that a trip with a roof tent has its own individual appeal.
Popular Suzuki off-road models include the Suzuki Jimny and the Suzuki Samurai.
Suzuki Jimny: Outdoor legend with compact dimensions and low weight – big off-road (predecessor: Samurai, SJ)
Compact dimensions, low weight and big off-road.
The Suzuki Jimny masters any terrain – and looks so unique that it has achieved cult status among its fans.
The readers of “Auto Bild Allrad” even voted it the overall winner 2020 in the category “Off-road vehicles and SUVs up to 35,000 euros”.
The compact off-roader therefore has a lot under the hood and is a cost-effective alternative to other SUVs and off-road vehicles.
With a wide field of vision, optimized bumpers, two-tone paintwork and a comfortable, straightforward interior, the Suzuki Jimny is a great off-road companion.
In addition, the new edition of the classic also has hill start and hill descent control, so it won’t let you down even on rough terrain.
The Suzuki Samurai of the SJ series is the predecessor and also known as an off-road vehicle.
However, it has not been produced since 2004.

Suzuki (Grand) Vitara: Compact SUV with off-road capabilities
According to the manufacturer, the compact design SUV is suitable for the road as well as for gravel tracks and rough terrain: A sustainable plus point: the SUV is also available as a hybrid and can therefore also be operated electrically.
Suzuki has opted for clear and modern lines in the design, and has dispensed with any frills that are in love with detail.
The Vitara’s storage space is particularly exciting: the trunk capacity of the Vitara is 375 liters5.
With the rear seats folded down, up to 1,120 liters6 can be transported.
It is available as a Club, Comfort or Comfort+ model, offering different features.
Anyone looking for an all-terrain vehicle that also cuts a fine figure on city streets should take a closer look at the Vitara.
In addition to the Suzuki Vitara, the Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV model was also available until 2015.
The SUV with an off-road vehicle look is higher than the Vitara and is therefore even better suited to rough terrain.
However, production was discontinued in 2015 and the Vitara was launched as the successor model with AllGrip.
- Power: 95 kW / 129 hp
- 0 – 100 km/h: n. A.

Best-selling models: Suzuki Swift, SX4 (S-Cross) and Suzuki Ignis Allgrip
The best-selling Suzuki models include, for example, the Suzuki Swift (Sport), the SX4 and the Suzuki Ignis micro-crossover.
All of these models have one thing in common: they are projects from the Japanese car manufacturer that are designed to undercut cars from more expensive manufacturers in terms of price, but not in terms of performance and comfort.
Here we reveal what the popular car models from Suzuki have under the hood.
Suzuki Ignis (Allgrip): Small car or SUV?
Micro crossover with 90 hp and 170 km/h top speed
The Suzuki Ignis is the Japanese solution for city and off-road.
The buyer should not have to choose between “either” and “or”, the car should fit into small parking spaces as well as make big adventures possible.
The car is designed for efficiency and is therefore also available as a new car with hybrid equipment.
With a large touchscreen display and a compact, well-organized interior, the small car also adapts to the trends of modern cars on the inside.
Its exterior mirrors can be heated on request, and the luggage compartment holds between 204 and 267 liters depending on the model.
The standard roof luggage racks make it very easy to fit a roof tent.
- Power: 66 kW / 90 hp
- 0 – 100 km/h: 11.8 s
- Top speed: 170 km/h
- Fuel consumption (combined)*: 4.3 l/100km

Suzuki Swift (Sport): Small car bestseller and favorite on the city streets
The Suzuki Swift has been around since 1983, and the model has undergone various facelifts and modernizations over the years.
The car is sold internationally in large numbers, for example in the USA, Japan, India and Australia.
It is also often made available as a rental car by car rental companies.
The Swift is now also available as a hybrid, thus adapting to the growing market for electric drives.
With its two-tone paintwork, it is similar in design to the Opel Adam, and the interior is clear and spacious.
For a car that is mainly used in the city, the Swift is an ideal choice.
It is also available as a dynamic sports version with even more driving fun.
- Power: 66 kW / 90 hp
- 0 – 100 km/h: 12.3 s
- Top speed: 165 km/h
- Fuel consumption (combined)*: 4.3 l/100km

Suzuki SX4 (S-Cross): Mid-range car for everyday use with off-road potential
The Suzuki SX4 is described by the manufacturer itself as a “muscular everyday helper”.
The car is suitable for the whole family.
It should cut a fine figure both in the city and off-road.
With a fairly low average fuel consumption and the option of a hybrid drive, the car is definitely worth a closer look.
The design of the body is rather rough here, striking lines and a robust radiator grille make the SX4 look almost beefy.
A panoramic glass sunroof and chrome-look decorative elements are fitted to order and enhance the interior.
- Power: 95 kW / 129 hp
- 0 – 100 km/h: n. A.
- Top speed: 190 km/h
- Fuel consumption (combined)*: 4.9 l/100km
