Here you can find out what a groundsheet is, what it is used for and what advantages and disadvantages it has.
Camping Ratgeber:
What is a tent floor?
The tent floor is the floor covering of a tent.
Most tents already have a tent floor made of waterproof PVC.
These include tunnel tents, family tents, steep wall tents and awnings.
However, there are some tents that do not have an integrated groundsheet and for these you have to buy an external groundsheet.
Advantages of the tent floor
A major advantage of a tent floor is that the underside of the tent remains clean.
This can also be removed and cleaned using a zipper.
In addition, stains on the underside of the tent can be avoided, as the tent floor acts like a protective film.
Another advantage of a tent floor is that it prevents moisture from penetrating when the floor is wet.
Disadvantages tent floor
One disadvantage of some tent groundsheets is that they are bad for the environment, as the grass suffocates more quickly.
This can be counteracted with a breathable tent floor.
