Mounting on the tent trailer: How to take your bike with you!
The tent trailer is a practical solution for transporting your tent and camping equipment and you have a fold-out sleeping area with you.
To take your bike with you, you will need a bike rack to attach the bike securely and stably to the trailer.
You attach this to the drawbar of the tent trailer.
Of course, you can also use a roof rack for the bikes, as only the trailer coupling is occupied by the tent trailer.
However, you must then pay particular attention to the route and possible obstacles where the roof rack could get stuck because it protrudes beyond the car.
You should also make sure that a roof rack is approved for your car.
The bike rack on the drawbar of the tent trailer is very practical.
Whether the tent trailer is approved for your car depends on the drawbar load.
This describes the maximum weight that can be carried on the trailer coupling.
You can learn more about this here:
Extend your tent trailer: even retrospectively
You already have a tent trailer and a bike rack?
No problem, just make a small change and you’re ready to go!
An adapter for the drawbar can be fitted at Campwerk, allowing you to continue using your existing bike carrier.
You can take a look at it here:
No tent trailer yet?
Buy directly with bike rack!
However, you should not transport a bike rack designed for more than three bikes on your tent trailer.
The drawbar could be too short for this.
So if you want to take more than three bikes with you, it’s best to have a bike rack fitted to your tent trailer right from the start.
This is also a good option if you don’t yet have your own bike rack, as it means you have both a tent trailer and bike rack in one.
