Camping Ratgeber:
With the best rooftop tent to Norway and back!
Jelmer and Marius were traveling in April of this year with a CAMPWERK Adventure rooftop tent.
Without any rooftop tent experience, they explored a part of southern Norway in 10 days and set up the rooftent almost every day.
Super enthusiastic they came back!
From cold nights in the mountains to early April sunshine and from wet snow to strong winds, in 10 days you can experience anything in Norway.
And the gentlemen knew it. Have you already seen their video?
Then you got an impression of their trip and hopefully got just as excited.
Haven’t watched it yet?
Then do so right away, because this is how you too can roof tent camp.

More InformationWhat do you look for when buying a rooftop tent?
Jelmer and Marius borrowed the rooftent from us (we do that in very exceptional cases, so if you think you are such a case, feel free to write us a motivated mail 😉 ).
But when you go to buy your own rooftop tent, what should you pay special attention to?
And what does the CAMPWERK Adventure have that makes it such a popular rooftop tent?
We explain it to you here. [lwptoc]
Roof load
First, the roof load is very important.
A car manufacturer calculates the maximum roof load and this is what you can mount on your car in running condition.
If your car only has a roof load of 50 kg, the Adventure will unfortunately not fit.
An average car has a roof load of 75 kg.
The Adventure weighs +/- 60 kg, so in most cases that will be fine.
Then there’s the difference between the roof load when driving and when stationary.
The latter is about 4 times as much.
So you can sleep just fine with yourself, your partner and 1 or 2 kids in the roof tent the moment you arrive at a nice spot.

Experience producer
In recent years, rooftop tent camping has enjoyed great popularity.
Logical, because it is a very fun and flexible way of camping.
The great popularity also means that there are a lot of new providers who want to reap the benefits of this growth.
For CAMPWERK, the Adventure rooftop tent has been one of the successful compact camping products the German company has been marketing since 2010.
CAMPWERK has given the latest Adventure a number of features that we have learned from our long experience in rooftop tents and that give the Adventure another greater edge in this market.
You have to think mainly about handy and practical features, but also the way the tent is made and finished.
Spatiality
A rooftop tent is basically always a small space.
Optical spaciousness is therefore very important.
The Adventure is equipped with 2 (lockable) roof windows.
This gives you optically a very fine space.
The viewing window on the ladder side can be opened for the view from your sleeping area, giving you a view of 360 degrees!
When comparing roof-tentn, be sure to test-bed to get a good idea of whether the space is sufficient for you.
Usually, just a size from a brochure doesn’t tell you enough.
Solid frame
The frame of the Adventure is of a sturdy aluminum, coated with fabric to prevent condensation on the poles.
The roof frame is curved for better drainage.
The hinges are made of stainless steel.
In the Adventure, this has all been reinforced in the latest version.
Side windows
Side windows can be used both with the expanders, giving you a canopy over your window, but these covers are also roll up.
So you enjoy the view in nice weather, and can keep your window open in bad weather with the awnings deployed.
Material of the soil
The bottom is fiberglass reinforced.
The choice of this material means that the bottom is insensitive to dents during transport or use, while remaining lightweight.
Take a look at the video at the bottom of this page to see how hard the bottom of the Adventure is now.
Just smart
Handy: a ring around the ejector so that water drops fall down here.
Handy: a luggage net under the bottom for your shoes or folding chair.
Handy: the bow bar on the front folds easily and then leaves you in place.
Easy and it saves just a little bit of time.
This shows that we also convert our extensive experience into convenient and practical features.
For all weather conditions
Indispensable and one of the characteristic and unique items of the Adventure rooftop tent remains the 100% cotton inner tent.
Together with the lower mattress, the inner tent prevents condensation in lower outside temperatures and more humidity in the early or late season.
It thus ensures a much better indoor climate and makes the tent very pleasant to sleep in.
Comfort
Sleeping comfort is very personal and everyone has his or her own preference when it comes to mattress firmness.
The Adventure’s standard mattress is 6 cm thick, but if you want something more comfortable, there is an optional self-inflating air mattress of no less than 12 cm.
You can adjust this well yourself in terms of firmness.
So optimal for the clean sleeper…. The CAMPWERK rooftop tent comes in 2 sizes, the 2-person Adventure 140 and 3-person Adventure 165.
Also available is a zip-on lower tent with cockpit tarp.
With only 60 kg, the Adventure 140 is also suitable for compact cars.
